Professor Mark Leffler of King’s College will be named the Bill McNally Mentor of the Year at the 15th Annual Business Plan Competition. In addition to being a professor of entrepreneurship and management at King’s McGowan School of Business, Leffler also is the Angelo P. DeCesaris Executive of Residence; an endowed chair that engages alumni, faculty and students to work together and create successful opportunities.
Mark is an alumnus of King’s College, graduating in 1975 with a degree in business administration. Over his career, he’s started eight different chemical distribution companies, and wanted give his time and resources to his alma mater.
“Even as a student, I knew I’d be back here teaching. So, when the Dean approached me about the chair, I went back to school. I got my Master’s Degree in Organizational Dynamics from the University of Pennsylvania at age 53, and then immediately after joined the staff at King’s.”
Part of Mark’s work as a mentor includes pushing students towards opportunities. Mark has been involved with the Business Plan Competition for the past six years, and has helped participants with their strategies and presentations in a hands-on role.
Currently, Mark is also a part-owner of Chemical Solutions LP and sits on the board of directors of EthosGen LLC, an alternative-energy technologies company founded by King’s alumnus Jim Abrams.
